Marae Seminars 2010
1 min read
In 2010 a collaborative government agency initiative for marae across Te Puku o Te Ika is being undertaken. The five agencies involved are Maori Land Court, Department of Internal Affairs, NZ Fire Service, Inland Revenue, and Historic Places Trust. There will also be guest speakers representing Te Puni Kokiri, Environment Bay of Plenty and local Councils.
The main objectives of the seminars are to provide marae representatives with information regarding:
- understanding trusteeship & governance
- marae fire safety
- taxation issues
- restoration & preservation of taonga
- funding application processes
The seminars are targeted at marae trustees, marae committees, whanau, hapu and iwi.
Participants will benefit by having direct contact with all five agencies at the same time. Please disseminate this information to your contacts and encourage whanau to attend these informative hui.
