Whanau staying well with medicines
HRPHOW (He Rongoa Pai, He Oranga Whanau) is a FREE two day education programme that aims to increase the awareness and understanding of the appropriate use, storage and disposal of medicines.
This is a programme that has been initiated by PHARMAC (Pharmaceutical Management Agency) who are committed to ensuring Maori have access to quality information that assists and supports Maori Health initiatives in our communities.
There are several key themes and concepts relating to how Maori use medicines. The objectives of this programme is to support kaimahi and whanau to develop key strategies that encourage whanau to safely and effectively use medication and rongoa and how both are positive investments in health. The facilitators will include some of the country’s leading professionals in Rongoa Maori, Maori Pharmacology and Primary Care.
The next programme will be held 17-18 May 2010 at Murihiku Marae, 336 Tramway Road, Invercargill.
