If you happen to know of contact details for any on the attached list, please email them through to Linda Manaia [email protected]
The NZRU are keen to ensure that they are able to include as many former players as possible in the events surrounding the 3 Centenary Games being played next month.
My Grandfather A.M. Loughlin played for the maori All Blacks 1963-1965 looking for any team photos please.
Hare Wakakaraka Puke of Ngati Wairere, Ngati Koura and Ngati Mahuta ( Waikato Iwi), wing and center three quarter played for the New Maori Team from 1946 to 1947. He first gained selection into the 1945 Combined Services Team and the NZ Army Team also. As a mark of respect by George Nepia himself, he presented his own rugby boots to Hare Puke after the 1947 East Coast Vs the NZ Maori game at Whakarua Park Ruatoria where the Maori team won 22 to 12. Hare passed away on November 15th 2008 and laid in state at Hukanui marae Gordonton where thousands paid their lst respects. He is buried upon the summit of Taupiri. A memorial display wall is now mounted on the main reception lounge with his 1947 Maori Blazer and NZM touring pin
My grandad Ivan hooper played for the 1947,48,49,Maori all blacks he grew up in tologa bay n played for the east coast rugby team n one game for horowhenua I have access to all his rugby photos n he is said now to be the oldest Maori all black on the east coast. Hope this info helps as these players helped create a legacy for new Zealand rugby n where it stands today.
It is with extreme sadness to inform you that Terawhiti Arthur passed away in Brisbane Australia 30th August 2011
I am a friend of Chris Jacob, Maori All Black 1973. Chris is very well, working and living in Auckland on the North Shore.
My uncle and namesake Geoff Skipper, maori all black 1975-77, is still alive and well, and still living in Wellington.
My father Jack Gardiner who played for Bay of Plenty in 1946 is alive and well at the age of 87. He lives just outside of Turangi with my mum. They will have been married for 63 years this May 21st 2012. He puts his longevity down to good genes, hard work as a farmer. Any further contact if required can be made through my email address…..

Mervyn Manaki Maiwa married to my late sister Marjorie Maihi. They both died of cancer, Marj at 31 , Merv at 39 , leaving a small boy Paul. He is now 45 and would like to know the rugby history of his Father along with any photos memorabilia etc.Merv and Marj were very academic and went on to be University graduates Merv being Assistant Pricipal of Massey High School and my sister an Intermediate Teacher.Paul was their only successful pregnancy out of 5 attempts.
Paul is now head of Physical security ofr Westpac for the whole of Australia and travels the world to increse his knowledge.
We would be grateful for any information.
