Nominations for the Environmental Protection Authority
1 min readOn 1 July 2011, the new Environmental Protection Authority will be established as a Crown Agent. The EPA will consolidate similar technical and regulatory skills within one organisation to enhance NZ’s environmental regulation. The EPA will be responsible for national-level consenting and regulatory functions under a number of statutes.
Invitations are called for a Chair-designate and Deputy Chair-designate. Board members will be called for in early 2011.
Nominees should have the following competencies:
- highly skilled in governance and organisational change and growth
- knowledge of NZ’s environmental management system
- an understanding of the New Zealand economy and the linkages with good environmental management
- knowledge and experience relating to the Treaty of Waitangi/ Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tikanga Maori
- an understanding of the administration of environmental and risk management frameworks
- familiarity with central government processes.
