The Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon Nathan Guy, is calling for nominees for appointment to the Gambling Commission. Terms are up to three years, and Commissioners may be reappointed.
The Commission meets at least monthly for one or two days depending on the workload. Annually it is anticipated that the commitment required will be around 15 days.
Commissioners must have the knowledge, skills and experience to assist in the functions of the Commission as an independent statutory body. Its functions include hearing and making determinations on casino licensing applications and appeals on licensing and enforcement decisions made by the Secretary of Internal Affairs in relation to gaming machines and other non-casino gambling activities.
Legal expertise and experience in community health areas of public policy would be particularly valuable for any new Commissioner.
