This years Auckland Regional Manu Korero Competition will be proudly hosted by Nga Puna o Waiorea/Western Springs College on behalf of all Auckland Secondary Schools on Thursday 2nd June & Friday 3rd June 2011.

Over the last 3 years there has been 35-40 Auckland Secondary Schools participating in the competition. The Manu Korero speech competition is one of the biggest events on the Auckland Secondary Schools calendar and attracts around 6000 students (Primary, Intermediate and Secondary), Kaiako/Teachers as well as Whanau and members of the wider community over the 2 day event.

The purpose of this competition is to harness future Maori leaders while creating a greater awareness among our Maori youth about political, social and economic issues that affect Maori today.

Kia kaha e nga manu tioriori!!
