Call for entries – Canterbury Fund small grants

Not for profit organisations working to strengthen Christchurch communities are urged to apply for small grants of between $5,000 and $25,000 with The Vodafone New Zealand Foundation, from today.
The types of initiatives suited to the grant include: projects that benefit young people such as youth employment/ transition, sport and recreation, health and education; other projects that strengthen Christchurch communities and; infrastructure and capital projects in the areas of education, sport and recreation and heritage and culture.
Established in November 2002, the Vodafone New Zealand Foundation has supported over 150 charitable community projects and donated over $11.5 million to charitable organisations, primarily in New Zealand.
The mission of the Vodafone NZ Foundation is to encourage healthy outcomes for young New Zealanders.

Grant Making Programme Criteria
- Projects that will be considered include; projects that benefit young people (aged 12-24 years) such as youth employment/ transition, sport and recreation (physical spaces and activities/ programmes), health (mental and physical) and education; other projects that strengthen Christchurch communities (with a particular interest in innovative approaches) and; infrastructure and capital projects that strengthen communities including: education, sport and recreation and heritage and culture.
- The applicant organisation must be registered with the Charities Commission or have other not-for-profit status, such as Incorporated Society
- The applicant organisation must be New Zealand based
- The project must be Canterbury focused
- All projects must have clearly defined outcomes, a clear plan for measuring success and provide a budget outline for how funds would be spent
- Previous Vodafone Foundation charity recipients are eligible to apply for this programme
The Canterbury Fund small grants programme does not support the following
Retrospective costs
Programmes that support a single health issue
Programmes where beneficiaries are outside of Canterbury, New Zealand
Fundraising events, receptions or trips
