Notice: Takutai Moana Iwi Collective

Takutai Moana Iwi agreed at a Hui held on the 10 October 2011 to advise Maritime NZ and other authorities that as Iwi kaitiaki representatives of the coastline from Otira (Maranui St, Papamoa) to Kaokaoroa (Pikowai straights, Otamarakau) that they as an Iwi collective will take the lead for cultural matters in respect of the clean up arising from the Rena Vessel catastrophe of the moana and takutai in their area.

The Iwi collective includes:

– Ngati Makino

– Ngati Whakahemo

– Ngati Whakaue ki Maketu

– Tapuika

– Waitaha

– Nga Potiki
