Looking Good Baby Photo Competition

2 min read

Mums all over New Zealand are being encouraged to breastfeed their pepe in the great outdoors this summer; and we want pictures!

Mums can submit photos of themselves breastfeeding at a landmark location, or anywhere outdoors, in a competition to help show that breastfeeding in public is completely natural.

Its about encouraging New Zealanders to be supportive of breastfeeding because breast milk gives babies the best start in life. It helps them grow, both physically and emotionally, and to stay healthy.

Aotearoa has been divided into eight rohe for the competition: Northland, Auckland, Upper Central North Island, Lower Central North Island, Wellington, Upper South Island, Canterbury/South Canterbury, Otago/Southland.

Mums can submit photographs of themselves breastfeeding wherever they normally would while out and about. But because the competition has a regional flavour, many will also take the opportunity to show off the scenery. Theyre encouraged to be photographed at a well-known landmark such as botanic gardens, near a mountain, by a lake or river, or at the foot of a famous statue.

The winner in each region will receive a canvas print of their photo and a $250 Farmers gift card. Runners up will receive $100 Farmers gift cards. Photos can be entered at the Breastfeeding NZ Facebook page at www.facebook.com/breastfeedingnz, and winners will be chosen by public vote.

So if youre a breastfeeding mum, why not enter your most stunning shot? If youre on the move, make sure you bring a camera along so someone can take a picture of you and your baby.

You have until 22 January 2012 to enter and the sooner you do the more time youll have to collect votes! Voting closes 12 February, and winners will be announced 14 February.
