The Rainbow WarriorStarting with the arrival of the Greenpeace flagshipRainbow Warriorand ending with an awesome concert, the week of events is designed to inspire, connect and challenge people who care about the future of our country. The festival concludes with a community concert on Sunday 20th January featuring iconic Kiwi band Ardijah, 1814 and many others.

In June 2010 the NZ government announced the granting of a deep sea oil permit in the Raukumara Basin, just 4 km off the East Cape, to Petrobras a Brazilian majority owned oil and gas company. This sparked off a series of informative hapu/iwi/community hui and presentations about the aggressive pro oil and gas drilling campaign the NZ Government was targeting not only in the East Coast but also throughout Aotearoa.

The first NgaTM Festival was held in Te Kaha on January 2011.With an audience of 1500 it was an inspiring way to share with people our concern for what was happening in the waters and lands of Te Whanau-a-Apanui and their neighbouring iwi, Ngati Porou.
