KIA MATAARA!!! TE ARAWA, TUWHARETOA, NGATI AWA ME NGA IWI O TE WAIARIKI, TONGARIRO ROHE HOKI!!!!
Please panui far and wide, because if past or present ‘consultation’ is anything to go by the whanau, hapu and iwi probably won’t ever hear about it, it’ll be quiet meetings behind closed doors with Crown picked and preferred representatives
The government is consulting with iwi and councils with an interest in an area proposed for a minerals competitive tender in the second half of this year.’New Zealand Epithermal Gold 2013′ will be for permits to explore for metallic minerals over 8,261.09 sq km of prospective land in the Taupo Volcanic Zone in the central North Island.
Bids will be sought between July 2013 and January 2014, after which they will be evaluated. Exploration permits are expected to be awarded to the best bidders by the end of April 2014 – permits can be granted for a period of up to ten years and will be limited to 7,500 hectares.
“The minerals tender will attract competitive bids for metallic minerals permits and stimulate investment in minerals exploration in the region,” said David Binnie, General Manager of New Zealand Petroleum & Minerals.”
