Keen To Get On It? Youth video competition

Kia Ora, please share with your young people/students the following information regarding our Keen To Get On It? Youth video competition which closes next week, August 7th at 5pm.

Over $1,900 in prizes are up for grabs in a video competition aimed at getting Rotorua young people to think about safety around alcohol.

Rotorua District Council (RDC), the Youth Council, and Ira Matatau Active Citizenship programme are coordinating the Keen To Get On It? video competition for 13 to 18 year olds.

The first prize package is worth over $1,000; second place valued at $600; third place valued at $300; and there are also a number of spot prizes.

The challenge is for young people to create a 90-second video that expresses their thoughts on alcohol and safety.

Videos need to cover at least one of the following topics:
* What you look like drunk/wasted
* What to do when you see a mate drunk?
* The propaganda of alcohol marketing.
* Real life stories
* Think Safe/Drink Safe
* The effects of alcohol.

A special screening night will be held for entrants and their families and friends, where winners will also be announced. Winning videos will be uploaded on Facebook.

All entries must be received by 5pm on 7 August, with award winners announced on 20 August.
