MANA backs the call to GET FREE from Deep Sea Oil

Screen Shot 2013-09-05 at 11.54.15 PMIts great to see all those prominent Kiwis signing up for the fight against deep sea oil drilling, said Hone Harawira, MANA leader and MP for Te Tai Tokerau following yesterdays launch of the Get Free campaign fronted by a host of well-known local musicians, actors, writers, sports and business people, and community and human rights leaders and activists.

Whanau a Apanui and Greenpeace did a great job bringing this to the attention of the nation, and now we can see the positive effect their stand has had on a whole host of others.

Having big names likeSam Neill, Lucy Lawless, the Topp Twins, Tiki Taane, Prof Albert Wendt, Dr Ranginui Walker, Phillip Mills, Nick Gerritsen, Sir Ted Thomas, Rikirangi Gage, and Daniel Kereopa, is a great boost for the campaign against the government’s misguided deep sea oil drilling plans.

And coming right on top of the intense scrutiny on our clean and green image, notification that mining and drilling exploration will soon be approved behind closed doors, the announcement that Texan oil company Anadarko plans to drill in New Zealand waters in the coming months, and the government’s decision to arrest protesters at sea, the Get Free campaign deserves the support of all New Zealanders who value our way of life.
