Scholarships in teaching
There are a number of scholarships in teaching available to students at the Faculty of Education. If youve dreamed of going teaching, now is the time to act.

TeachNZ scholarships
TeachNZ scholarships worth up to $30,000 are available for Maori and Pacific high achievers. These prestigious scholarships are for highly talented people who are of Maori and Pacific descent, and who would like to become a teacher in early childhood, primary or secondary education.

Maori and Pacific applicants in the following programmes are eligible to apply for the scholarships:
- Bachelor of Education (Teaching) Early Childhood Education – Pasifika Specialisation
- Bachelor of Education (Teaching) Early Childhood Education
- Bachelor of Education (Teaching) Huarahi M?ori Specialisation
- Bachelor of Education (Teaching) Primary Specialisation
- Bachelor of Physical Education
- Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education)
- Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Primary)
- Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary)
Teach First NZ programme Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary Field-based)
Scholarships for tuition fees are given to all successful applicants who are selected into this programme. Participants are also paid a salary* throughout the two-year period of study.
*Equivalent to that of an untrained/unqualified secondary teacher.
This programme, to qualify you to teach at secondary school level in your specialist teaching subject, is offered in partnership with Teach First NZ. Teach First NZ is an independent not-for-profit organisation that aims to improve student achievement outcomes in areas of socio-economic disadvantage, by attracting and supporting top university graduates to teach in secondary schools serving lower-decile communities.
The Faculty of Educations main contribution to the partnership is the design and delivery of the programme’s academic curriculum and mentor programme. Upon successful completion of the programme you will graduate with a University of Auckland qualification.
This is a school-based teacher education programme and places are strictly limited. Teach First NZ is recruiting for participants to teach in selected areas of study/subjects.
