(newstalkZB) Maori performers are part of a delegation heading to Japan today, to help revive confidence in kiwifruit.
The group will open the Zespri Trade Conference, hoping to encourage Japanese industry players to stick with New Zealand, in the wake of the Psa outbreak.
Spokesman Hemi Rolleston, from Te Awanui Huka Pak, says the Rugby World Cup showcased just how strong the country’s cultural brand is.
“Zespri’s a New Zealand brand and we believe Maori culture can certainly sit alongside Zespri and only enhance it, particularly in the markets like Japan where there’s such a real, I guess, an understanding and appreciation of culture, in particular Maori culture.”
The cultural group will include Ria Hall, who sang at the Rugby World Cup opening ceremony.
