The Tropfest New Zealand main event will be open to the public and free of charge. It will take place on Sunday January 27, 2013 at the TSB Bowl of Brooklands, New Plymouth  and is located on Brooklands Road.

An industry and celebrity panel will judge the selected finalists live, under the stars. During the final awards ceremony, the panel will announce the overall  winner as well as awards for the Best Maori Director, Best Actor and Best Actress!

Best Director

This year the fabulous and exciting prize for the filmmaker judged the overall winner on the night, which has been kindly sponsored by the Motion Picture Association (MPA) and The New Zealand Federation Against Copyright Theft (NZFACT), is return airfares to Los Angeles and five nights accomodation plus $500 spending money to cover transfers, meals and cabs!  And just when you thought it couldnt possibly get any better than that, there is even more to be added to what we are calling a ’Filmmakers Dream Prize Package’…but for now you will have to watch this space!

Best Maori Director

Thanks to the Wairoa Maori Film Festival and Nga Aho Whakaari, the winner of this prize category will walk away with $2,500 cash and receive the wonderful opportunity to screen their film at the Wairoa Maori Film Festival on 30 June 2013!

Best Actor

Generously sponsored by Bata NZ,  the lucky winner of the Best Actor prize category will take away $2,500 cash.

Best Actress

Watch this space – to be announced…
