Anatonio Te Maioha

“An incredible poet, an accomplished actor, a loved father and an environmental campaigner in his own community; Anatonio is a man of many talents. He makes compost. He has featured on television shows such as Korero Mai, Kiwi Maara, Mataku, Hercules, Spartacus, Xena, Shortland street and others. He washed, hung out & folded cloth nappies when his children were young.
.
In 2011 he was awarded the ‘Tau mai e Kapiti’ Maori Writers’ Residency. He bakes cakes, biscuits & muffins a lot. He recorded a track for Tame iti maa on ‘Concious Uprising’ a compilation cd fundraising for court costs for victims of police terror in Ruatoki. In august he performed that piece “let me tell u about Tame” on Maoritvs Native Affairs & it caught a flu after that says Te Maioha (apparently it got quite viral). He recycles a lot & picks up rubbish in public. Anatonio has written & created films, poems & short stories in Maori & england for Enviroschools & has also written a Te reo Maori play for Taki Rua Theatre.
.
He cleans the toilet.
.
Anatonio often performs his storytelling & spoken word pieces at all types of events, from schools to fashion shows to conferences & most types of hui in between. He washes around the bath & puts the seat down.
.
Anatonio is an Aquarian- so unfortunately that cancels out all & any other good qualities he might have.”
.
The Psalms of the Revolution (evening of spoken word) is an opportunity for sharing korero and kaupapa via kupu: to continue the harakeke roots resistance to the colonisation of Aotearoa. The writers and performers for the Psalms of the Revolution are locally and nationally recognised kaupapa driven Artists that are passionate about their communities.
