Kia ora whanau.  We know that many of your minds have turned to the issue of school, training and tertiary education, and that gaining a scholarship or grant really does help when you need it the most – for course books, field trips, new resources.  We’re pulling together a list of scholarships available online.  PLease use all of them and if you find any new links or sites, please share them with our whanau below:

Waikato – Tainui Tertiary Education Grants

These grants are available to registered tribal members pursuing higher education, whether it is at a University, technical institute, private training entity or waananga.  2013 Education Grants and Scholarships are now OPEN

We are pleased to announce that the application process is now open for the Waikato-Tainui Education Grant & Scholarship 2013. The focus for 2013 is aligned to our tribal strategic priorities as follows: Education and Training, Employment, Health and Wellbeing, Economic Development.  This means targeted investment with an emphasis on the following key study areas: Sciences (including environmental science), Engineering, Business Management, Medical, Early Childhood, Matauranga Maori/Te Reo.  However this does not preclude applications for funding assistance in other categories of study.  Important Note: Education Grant Applications closes on Thursday 28 February 2013.

Gravida-Nga Pae o te Maramatanga PhD Scholarship

Through the new Gravida-Nga Pae o te Maramatanga PhD Scholarship Fund, support is available for an outstanding postgraduate student engaged in research into an early start to life and fostering te p? harakeke (fostering healthy and prosperous M?ori families). This research should be concerned with understanding what keeps a family well and prospering, and the barriers to families flourishing. Round Duration:  21 December, 2012 - 28 February, 2013

Te Putea Whakatipu Trust

  • Tawera Scholarship that is aimed at Maori undergraduate students enrolled fulltime in 2013 in a commerce, business, or management degree.  (Preference will be given to those students who: are in their last year or second to last year of study towards their degree)
  • Rona Scholarship aimed at Maori undergraduate and graduate students enrolled fulltime in 2013 in a fisheries, aquaculture or marine sciences degree. (Preference will be given to those students who: are in their last year or second to last year of study towards their degree)
  • Whanui Scholarship that is aimed at Maori undergraduate and graduate students enrolled fulltime in 2013 in agriculture or agribusiness related degree. (Preference will be given to those students who: are in their last year or second to last year of study towards their degree)
