A special report on racism and prejudice in rugby league – featuring an exclusive interview with Anthony Mundine – screens on Maori Television’s weekly indigenous current affairs series, NATIVE AFFAIRS, tonight, Monday July 5, at 8.30 PM.
Presenter Julian Wilcox speaks to the outspoken boxer and former rugby league star following Andrew John’s comments that led to Timana Tahu walking out of the New South Wales’ State of Origin camp. Mundine calls some of rugby league’s greatest players ‘house negros’ and advises up-and-coming Maori and Polynesian talent to play rugby union instead.
Among those sharing their insights with NATIVE AFFAIRS are NSW players Jarryd Hayne and Paul Gallen, Race Discrimination Commissioner Graeme Innes, former Wallaby and media commentator Peter FitzSimons and academic Dr Fiona Allon as well as the grassroots of rugby league.

I hope you blokes are not as stupid as this idiot. Rugby League has a proud history of inclusiveness whereas Rugby union has a long history of bigotry, racism and snobbishness. Anyone who knows their sporting history knows this and anyone who knows Mundine knows he is a human headline who does not adhere to Aboriginal cultural requirements and also follows a non Aboriginal religion. This hypocrit is still sore at not being good enough to keep his State of Origin and Australian jumpers and has recently called RL Indigenous greats "coconuts." This idiot is poison and is the most hated Australian sportsman for good reason, having had his non-Aboriginal mates start fights at recent bouts in Sydney when his preferred fighter lost.
