Background – Warren Pohatu

If you don’t instantly recognise the name, you will immediately recognise his work…  The FB group was created by a couple of fullas, including composer, Boy Wehi and Warren Pohatu the famous graphic designer, artist and writer. Originally from the east coast of the North Island, Warren now lives in West Auckland and is the uncle of some very lucky Summerland past and present students. Warren affliates to Ngai Tamanuhiri with links to Ngati Porou, Ngati Kahungunu, Rongowhakaata and Te Aitanga-a-Mahaki. For the past 20 years Warren has researched in depth the stories, legends and genealogy of his Tupuna and he uses this research as inspiration to create his rich, vibrant and very graphic art works.

For Tshirt enthusiasts and those who just love this graphic, this is definitely one for the collection! Get in quick and support local Maori artists riding the technopreneurial wave.
