“Our People, Our Future”

This is an invitation for Māori to come together at Te Wānanga o Raukawa in Otaki on the 1st and 2nd of September 2009 to talk about where Māori in our region are now; where we want to be in a generation and how we can plan to get there. The hui organiser is a community of Māori entities and individuals whose common interest is in the prosperity and wellbeing of Māori. This collective is known as Te Aho and is a cluster of ropu tuku iho, other ropu tikanga Māori and individual Maori collaborating to enhance the prosperity and wellbeing of Māori.

This cluster is hosting the hui for Māori in the area from Rangitikei to Whitireia.  At the Our People, Our Future hui; we will discuss and explore Māori models of success and innovation that have assisted Māori to survive as a people, particularly in our region. In the programme you will see that we celebrate Māori success, listen to some key speakers, and will all participate in activities that will raise our aspirations and contribution to the prosperity and wellbeing of Māori into the future.

As a cultural identity we Māori have many things in common and coming together to address matters in which we have mutual interests can be helpful. Hopefully, this hui held over the two days in will be one of these occasions.

If you have any questions about this hui or our programme, please do not hesitate to contact Shane Royal, Shane Royal, Te Aho Coordinator, 021 335 841, [email protected].

For registration and catering purposes over the two days could you please indicate how many may be attending and what workstream(s) you will be attending by ringing Anthea on 06 364 8598, alternatively you might drop her an email at [email protected] (preferably by Tuesday 25th August).
