Edinburgh Arts Centre hosts Maori artist

A MAORI artist who specialises in carving and sculpture is holding an arts workshop at North Edinburgh Arts Centre tomorrow.

George Nuku is a Maori artist from New Zealand’s North Island.

Since July 2008, he has been coming to the National Museums Scotland Collection Centre at Granton, to restore part of a Maori war canoe a waka for the Royal Museum.

At the workshop you can find out more about the waka canoe, George’s artwork and his ‘moko’, his elaborate facial tattoo.

The workshops cost 3 per person, per workshop. All materials plus tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. For further details and to book a place, contact the box office on 0131-315 2151.–
