Dream it Live it is here!

Plans are underway for the Dream It Live It Hip Hop Dance Competition to be held on Friday 18th December 2009, 6pm 8pm at the Cook Island Hall, 101a Clayton Road.

This event has been initiated by a team of youth leaders to show positive support to the dreams and aspirations of all young people and to promote expression through the art of hip hop dance.

Event organiser Gina Kaukau, founding member of the FEARLESS Dance Group, said

this event will showcase the great pool of talent we have here in Rotorua. It will be a positive night of song and dance, supported by the Rotorua Youth Centre and we hope the community also supports youth realising their dreams.

DreamItLiveItCAs a member of Fearless, Gina was fortunate enough to travel abroad, representing New Zealand at the World Hip Hop Dance Competition in Las Vegas by placing 2nd in 2007 and 3rd in 2009. The large amount of New Zealand dance groups in attendance showed the World that we have major talent here, especially in Rotorua said Gina.

In an effort to give back to the community, Gina and her team will donate all proceeds from Dream It Live It to the Rotorua Community Hospice, which is a specialised community-based health and support care service. We wanted to show that as young people, our efforts can support the great work of the Hospice and to raise the profile of the Hospice amongst Rotorua youth.

We are looking for local businesses to support Dream It Live It and will be approaching them for prizes and sponsorship said Gina. We also hope that dancers will team up and take the challenge to compete and to match their talent against each other for prizes.
