Maori input into Environmental Protection Authority, 19 Feb, Wellington

You are invited to an upcoming hui on how Maori should be involved in a fully formed Environmental Protection Authority (EPA). This discussion forms part of the work on Phase Two of the Resource Management Reforms lead by the Ministry for the Environment. Te Puni Kokiri is assisting the Ministry for the Environment with these hui.


To seek your views on how Maori should best be involved in a fully formed EPA. The discussion will focus on what provisions are needed (both legislative and non-legislative) to ensure Maori are effective in advising the EPA on matters of interest to Maori. A brief Q & A is attached which provides some more information on the purpose of the hui.

Time & Date:

The hui is to be held at 10.30am on 19 February 2010 at Te Puni Kokiri House, 143 Lambton Quay, Wellington. Attached is a panui with more details on timing and the format of the day.


The Ministry for the Environment will pay for any flights required and reimburse mileage for those who travel in their car. Please contact Fran Taito on 04-4397616 or [email protected] for further information on travel costs.


We appreciate this is very short notice and that you may not be able to attend due to other commitments. However, we would very much appreciate if you could let us know by Tuesday 16 February if you will be attending for catering purposes. You can also pass this invite onto another interested person in your organisation if you are unable to make it.
