Travel Grants for students to study in Japan

The Asia New Zealand Foundation (Asia:NZ) Travel Grants to Japan are open to students studying at undergraduate level at a New Zealand tertiary institution who have been accepted on an exchange programme to Japan.

These grants are a contribution towards travel costs to Japan.

Students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a NZ citizen or permanent resident
  • Be enrolled in a undergraduate degree programme at a New Zealand tertiary institution
  • Be aged between 18 and 25
  • Be accepted by their home institution and their destination institution for participation in an exchange to Japan
  • Have completed at least one semester of full-time study at the time of application
  • Have a good academic record
  • Have a demonstrated interest in learning or developing their Japanese language skills and increasing their understanding of Japanese culture
