Nominations for Employment Relations Authority

The Minister of Labour, Hon Kate Wilkinson, is calling for nominations to the position of the Chief of the Employment Relations Authority; an investigative body whose role it is to resolve employment relationship problems.

The Chief provides managerial, professional and strategic leadership for the authority. The Chief will have:

  • management and or leadership skills
  • an understanding of Government processes
  • judgment, tact and discretion;
  • pragmatism and flexibility;
  • investigative skills to inquire into and establish the facts surrounding employment relationship problems;
  • a high level of knowledge of employment law and practice in NZ
  • ability to gain acceptance by all parties to employment relationships, including unions, employers, parties representatives and the general public;
  • knowledge of tikanga Maori
  • empathy with and an ability to respond to cultural, gender and other human rights.
