1 min read

Hon Bill English, Minister of Finance, is considering increasing the size of the Earthquake Commission from the current five members. The EQC Board requires additional members to deal with the increased governance workload in responding to the Christchurch Earthquake as well as bringing to to the Board, specific skills and experience to assist with the new responsibilities.

The extra responsibilities include the establishment and management of a Project management office that will co-ordinate all aspects of the repair for approximately 40,000 houses with damage between $10,000 and $100,000.

The Board requires directors with strong governance experience. In addition the Board would benefit from members with experience in the construction sector, resource management and engineering, particularly civil and disaster response.

This email seeks your nomination of candidates who would add value to the Board. If you are aware of potential candidates for the EQC Board please send them through to me by Wed 3 November.
