Expert opponent of water fluoridation to visit Aotearoa

5 min read

This panui has come from Olive Mcrae, a representative for Fluoride Action Network ( No doubt there are those for and against water fluoridation – so if you are interested in finding out why this group is opposed to it, read on. If equally you are interested in why others want our water fluoridated – check out Wikipedia’s link…

There will be an upcoming NZ tour of Dr. Paul Connett, a leading expert in environmental toxicology and artificial water fluoridation.

Please watch the following links before reading the rest of this email:

Artificial water fluoridation is the medication of our public water supplies, by territorial authorities, under the advise of the NZ Ministry of Health.

Given that water is seen as the the sustainer and provider of life for Maori people, we feel it is of vital importance to protect the Mauri of our water.

Protection from contamination with the very harmful contaminate fluoride.

I was personally involved in the fluoride debate with the Dunedin City Council in 2008, where I noticed that local Iwi were given no say in the debate, and not informed of the practice at all. Local Iwi in Dunedin expressed their disappointment with the lack of consultation.

Over the past few years Fluoride Action Network have watched as councils decide not to consult with Iwi about this very important topic.

The NZ Ministry of Health have also refused on most occasions to have a scientific debates about the benefits verses the risks. MOH have systematically lobbied Maori Health organisations to promote artificial fluoridation , without allowing them the opportunity to hear both sides of this debate.

This has resulted in recent claims from health care providers, that artificial fluoridation should be available under the Treaty.

It is of vital importance that Maori are given the opportunity to hear both sides of this debate in order to make an informed decision about the medication they take, and provide to their whanu.

There has been huge opposition to fluoridation trials in the far north by local Iwi, resulting in protests, but this has been ignored by the mainstream media.

We believe that this issue needs to be discussed within media that will reach Maori people.

Dr. Connett will be in New Zealand from March 18th until the middle of April.

We would welcome a representative from the Ministry of Health for a balanced debate.

  1. The board of the Santa Clara Valley Water District (in California) held a public meeting March 22nd on water fluoridation. This summer they are scheduled to vote on whether or not to fluoridate the water supply. The board and their staff were given 20 copies of a 75-minute cd of doctors explaining the history, origin, and health hazards of this toxic waste. Doctors included John Lee, John Yiamouyannis, and Phyllis Mullenix. The audio is posted at the website Just go to the bottom of the homepage.

If people were to burn a cd of that audio and spread it around (especially to churches, schools, health food stores and health clubs) you might find it very effective in waking up the public in your area. Good luck.

  2. Everyone is most welcome to attend the Dunedin Meeting on 10 April. The Mayor of Dunedin, Dave Cull, declined an invitation for Professor Emeritus Connett to meet with the councillors and Water and Waste Services Staff. The Deans of the Dunedin School of Medicine and the Dental Faculty, University of Otago also declined invitations for Dr Connett to speak. Professor Connett has an important message to give that affects the health of all, particularly children whose brain development may be affected by exposure to fluoride when fluoridated water is used to mix infant formula.
