Maori Excellence in Farming – Field Days

If you want to see some really classy farming, get along to the three field days on the properties of the finalists in the 2011 Ahuwhenua Trophy Bank of NewZealand Maori Excellence in Farming Award.

  • The first is this Thursday 28th of April, at the Kaipara Harbour property of theOtakanini Topu Incorporation, 405 South Head Road, Helensville. Visitors are asked to meet at Haranui Marae, Haranui Road, Helensville at 9am.
  • The next is on Tuesday 3rd of May, atWaipapa 9 outside of Taupo. Visitors should meet at Mokai Marae at 9am, corner of Tirohanga Road and Forest Road.
  • The last field day is on Pakihiroa Farm in the foothills of Mt Hikurangi, near Ruatoria on Thursday 12th of May, Visitors to meet at Mangahanea Marae, Tuparoa Rd, Ruatoria at 8.45am.

The Ahuwhenua Trophy competition celebrates the business and environmental excellence achieved by Maori farmers in New Zealands pastoral sector.

Each year the Ahwhenua Trophy competition alternates between beef and sheep farms and dairy farms. This years competition is for sheep and beef farmers.

The current holder of the Ahuwhenua DairyTrophy is Waipapa 9, which is once again a finalist for its sheep and beef operation.

If youre in the North Island get along to one, or all, of these Ahuwhenua Trophy field days. Everyone is welcome, notjustfarmers.
