Bay of Plenty District Health Board has managed to get 92 percent of Maori children in its region immunised, and 88 percent of children overall.

Orana Harris, the director of nursing for Nga Mataapuna Oranga Public Health Organisation, says DHB portfolio managers, the PHOs, National Immunisation Register staff and immunisation champions have worked together as a team to achieve the result.

The government wants DHBs to have 90 percent of two-year olds fully immunised by now, rising to 95 percent by July next year.
