E Mama Moe study needs 98 more Wahine Hapu!

2 min read

We’ve been incredibly impressed with the uptake of wahine into the E Moe Mama sleep study. The goal was 500 Maori women and they now have 402 so only 98 more to go but time is tight, any Mama will need to contact the research team before 5pm on Friday 16th September to complete the first questionnaire and sign a consent form in time.

Wahine hapu need to be due on or before 1 October 2011.

Feedback from the mums who have taken part in this study has been positive, with many never been part of a study before, they have found this experience very empowering to have someone listen to their experiences and ideas and feel as though they are making a contribution to the well-being and care of other women with similar experiences.

Pregnant Maori women (aged 16 and above) are needed to take part in sleep research and will receive $40 of gift vouchers for being involved. To participate, each mama will have to answer in writing 3 surveys over the course of her pregnancy.

The E Moe Mama study is the first project in Aotearoa/New Zealand to try to understand how the sleep of wahine changes during pregnancy and after baby is born and its relationship to the mothers health and wellbeing. Women can enrol any time before their 38th week of pregnancy but their baby needs to be due on or before the 1 October 2011.
