Adrienne Whitewood a Rotorua-based clothing designer has launched her website, The site provides galleries of Adrienne’s last three collections and will look to allow for online purchases in the future.

Her first commercial collection, Te Whare Toi, was inspired by her exhibition held atthe Rotorua Arts Village and fuses her passion for incredible design with building a local Brand which can be exported globally.

Inspired by Maori art and culture, Adrienne Whitewood takes traditional concepts and with them invents unique silhouettes exploring fabric manipulation and technology, her ethos is all about creating wearable clothing for women who want an emotional connection to clothing.

In 2010 She debuted her first collection titled; Kimihia He Ngaro (Search for the unseen unobtainable)at NZFW and Most recently early in 2011 Adrienne Won the Supreme title at the Miromoda Fashion awards with her Collection Te Aho Tapu (the sacred thread) which will be shown at this years NZFW, part of her prize package will see her head to Melbourne fashion week, and be mentored by Jack Yan (Lucire Magazine) who has stated that She has one of the strongest futures out of any of the contestants that have ever entered Miromoda.

Adriennes passion stems from her fascination with Maori art, History and Tikanga, and is greatly inspired by her home town of Rotorua, which has seen her graduate from AUT in 2009 with a Degree in Fashion she went on to study Nga Mahi Whakaairo and Tikanga Maori at Waiariki In Rotorua.

She has worked in Maori Tourism for 8 years, and most recently has had a contract with Maori trustee which helps develop Land initiatives for Maori. She has been described as a rising talent to watch out for.
