‘Severe’ 5.7 magnitude earthquake has been felt throughout central New Zealand #EQNZ

WellyQuakeA ‘severe’ 5.7 magnitude earthquake has been felt throughout central New Zealand.

The quake, which was 19 km deep, was centred 40km east of Seddon, Marlborough.

GNS reported the earthquake as severe.

On the ground reports in Wellington suggest little outward damage to the CBD but alarms and emergency service sirens were going off downtown.

The quake was reported as felt as far away as Christchurch and New Plymouth.

People in Marlborough reported the quake as being felt in two jolts.
