Fostering Positive Health through Maori Nutrition and Physical Activity

Save the dates for 11th, 12thand 13thof February 2014 for the Hui-a-tau in Tamaki Makaurau. This is the only national forum with a focus on Maori nutrition and physical activity issues. The 2014 event will showcase a range of innovative solutions that are effectively engaging Maori communities and producing positive health outcomes.

National Hui in 2014 signifies a transformation for Te Hotu Manawa Maori, the hui will coincide with the national launch of Toi Tangata says Kaih?pai, Hereni Marshall.

Toi Tangata and the Hui-a-tau supports the growth of Maori nutrition and physical activity leadership, Maori researchers, clinicians, experienced practitioners, Iwi and community leaders are all adding to community ownership of M?ori nutrition and Maori physical activity.

As a foundational value of our organisation Toi Tangata, I believe this hui is about enabling and empowering Maori ownership to public health nutrition and physical activity issues says Managing Director, Leonie Matoe

The focus of the February hui is to highlight successful Maori approaches and to strengthen the connectivity of the sector by whakawhanaungatanga, presenting relevant information and research and providing a forum for key issues relating to Maori to be shared and discussed.

A high calibre of key note speakers will be available to inspire and encourage innovation in the area of positive health, nutrition and fitness. Workshop spots are available for innovative community programmes and student scholarships will be available for Tertiary students also, keep an eye on the Toi Tangata website for updates with scholarships.
