Maori to rally for te reo Maori Monday morning at Porirua

Then hikoi to TWoA, Heriot Drive, for the Maori language strategy consultation hui at 10 am.
Otaki: We will meet atWaikanae Stationin time to catch the8am trainand/or drive to Porirua.

To raise awareness of te reo Maori issues, and of flax roots aspirations for the heritage language of Aotearoa.

Your thoughts about what you want to see happen to support te reo Maori in Aotearoa whanui, in your district, your town, on TV and radio.
And bring your tamariki its about them!

Why rally?

  • To call for urgent action from government, our own people, our local communities;
  • To ensure the flax roots opinion is heard in a way that won’t be lost in a submissions process;
  • To address gaps in the new Maori language strategy.
  • Do you want to hear place names pronounced correctly on the train? On TV? In Parliament?
  • Does your bank have posters in Maori as well as Mandarin and English?
  • How reo-friendly is your local supermarket?
  • Is it OK for mainstream announcers to make jokes about te reo Maori on TV

How can we make sure the new MLS meets the needs of our wh?nau?

Te reo Maori needs all of us to rally.
