Ngati Porou ki Poneke taurahere is proud to host the 2014 Ta Apirana Ngata Memorial Lectures in Wellington at one of the countrys iconic venues, Te Papa.

ResizedImage359269-NMLThis year the lectures celebrate the 31st year of this uniquely Ngati Porou event.

The first lecture series was held in 1983, introduced by Ta Tamati Reedy in commemoration of the monumental work carried out by Ta Apirana to Ngati Porou and the nation.

Since that first lecture the series has gained in popularity and inspired many Ngati Porou, both at home and away, to passionately embrace their Ngati Poroutanga. The Ngata Memorial Lectures have rarely been hosted away from the heart of Ngati Porou. This year is one of those rare occasions.

With the generous support of Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou and Te Papa, the actual delivery of the lectures is free but a small registration charge of $20 for adults and $10 for students will help us meet the costs of hosting the lectures. These costs include catering, transport, accommodation for out-of-town whanau, live-streaming facilities, promotional and administrative costs.
