Te Kura Maori o Waatea officially opened

Manukau Urban Maori Authority CEO Willie Jackson officially opened Te Kura Maori o Waatea at Nga Whare Waatea Marae in front of whanau, community members and former Maori Party Co-Leader Dame Tariana Turia and current MP Minister of Education Hon Hekia Parata, Education Under Secretary David Seymour and Te Taitokerau Maori MP Peeni Henare and Mangere Labour MP Sua William Sio.

Mr Jackson says its unbelievable how Maori embraced and work well with conservative political parties to achieve kura like Waatea.

But we all know the kaupapa is bigger than politics and parties, Maori achievement is everyones agenda says Mr Jackson.

waateaThis is about Maori development and organisations like MUMA and Waipareira are here to support these initiatives says Mr Jackson.

The difference with Te Kura Maori o Waatea is that we are a one-stop-shop he adds.

We have support services in place on the marae like Whanau Ora.

Te Kura Maori o Waatea is more than a kura its a whanau, community, an urban Maori kaupapa for all of South Auckland says Mr Jackson.
